The MIDBAND™ is one of the latest generation gastric bands now available to support weight loss. The MIDBAND™ offers a weight loss solution that is considered safe and quick to implant. It has an established safety record and very low complication rates.
The MIDBAND™ is soft and it gently but firmly hugs the stomach to create a small pouch to reduce food intake. The MIDBAND was designed with the advice and guidance of Dr. Vincent Frering after his extensive experience with other bands, such as the American Lapband (Inamed) the Swedish Band (previously Obtech and now Johnson & Johnson).
It provides a very attractive alternative to conventional surgical methods which are more invasive and irreversible, requiring extended hospitalization. It is an adjustable peri-gastric belt, implantable by laparoscopy. It is indicated for surgical treatment of morbid obesity.
Extremely flexible and easy to fit, the MIDBAND has no sharp edges or irregularities which means it preserves the gastric wall and leaves it intact, even in event of rubbing. It is opaque to X rays, making it easy to locate and adjust.
